Get-out-of-jail cards are paid for with public's fear

CONVICTED criminals in their thousands enjoyed a very merry Christmas after they were freed from jail ahead of time.

Labour's early-release scheme meant the crooks were left tucking into turkey and mince pies when they should have been doing porridge.

No doubt these offenders were delighted to be released earlier than expected. But their freedom comes at the expense of law-abiding citizens.

It meant that people who should have been locked up were back on the streets too soon, posing a danger to the public.
