Fresh evidence will 'completely demolish' Letby case, says lawyer

THE barrister representing baby killer nurse Lucy Letby has handed over "fresh" medical evidence that he claims will "completely demolish" the case against her.

Mark McDonald spoke yesterday as he delivered a dossier to the miscarriages of justice watchdog giving alternative explanations by world experts for the infants' deaths or collapses.

Letby, 35, of Hereford, is serving 15 whole-life orders after being convicted of murdering seven children and attempting to murder seven more with two attempts on one victim.

The incidents occurred from June 2015 to June 2016, when she worked in the Countess of Chester Hospital's neonatal unit.

Mr McDonald said the 14-strong panel's findings, now in the hands of the Criminal Cases Review Commission, showed poor medical care and natural causes were behind deaths or illnesses suffered by 17 babies featured in Letby's original trial.
