MPs and celebrities have joined together to call for a peat sale ban.

Two years ago the Government promised a bar by the end of 2024 but purchasing peat compost and peat products remain legal.

But the law could be changed through the new Horticultural Peat Private Members Bill debated in the Commons today.

Peatlands provide vital habitat for plant and animals but are often destroyed for gardening products.
