Fishing livelihoods at risk over noise row with holiday home owners

VILLAGE fishermen say their centuries-old industry is under threat from holiday home owners who claim their storage yard makes too much noise.

The householders' complaints were backed by North Norfolk District Council, raising a question mark over commercial fishing in Sea Palling.

But many locals, including the parish council, support the crews.

The row centres on a yard some 100 metres from the shore where several fishermen have stored gear and boats since the early 1980s.

When weather and tide conditions are right, they use tractors to tow their vessels along The Marrams road to a slipway for launch.
