Detectives probing 'insider link' to UK millionaire kidnap

KIDNAPPED British businessman Colin Armstrong is believed to be spending the holidays with his family while police investigate whether the crime was an inside job.

Colin, 78, and his young lover Katherine Paolo Santos were snatched by 15 bogus gun police from his farm in Ecuador on December 16. She turned up hours later wearing a bomb vest and ransom demand from kidnappers.

Three days later - a week ago - he was found wandering along a road not far from where he was taken.

Now police have revealed the bomb vest Katherine was made to wear was a fake.

Frolicking

Detectives, who have made nine arrests and seized guns, grenades, detonators and drugs, are probing how the kidnappers knew Colin's whereabouts and were able to override his top security.
