Chancellor takes away just £600m from China

RACHEL Reeves has been criticised after her trip to China resulted in "small change" new investment in the UK of just £600million

The Chancellor flew out despite turbulence on the UK gilt markets amid the fallout from her debut Budget. Ms Reeves said she sealed deals worth £600million to the UK economy over the next five years. But Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride called the trip "tone deaf" as she ought to have been calming markets in Britain.

He added: "Sentiment and confidence are at the heart of the approach that a good Chancellor should take.
