BRITAIN is set to bask in the hottest temperatures of the year at 10C above average next week.

- By Chris Riches

Weather experts expect thermometers to soar past April 4's 23.7C to a new high of 27C.

The warm-up starts this weekend as runners face 22C conditions in the London Marathon tomorrow. By Tuesday the capital could see highs of 24C, potentially topped by parts of the South reaching 27C.

Sunseekers

Temperatures may hit 10C above the late April average and forecasts suggest they could remain high until Friday.

It comes after parts of the UK had a grim start to 2025 with storms, floods and snow downing power lines and sparking travel chaos. The Easter weekend also saw scattered showers and plunging temperatures - but forecasters believe that sunseekers can now look forward to a bright and warm weather U-turn. The warmest days of the week are set to be Wednesday and Thursday with 27C expected "quite widely", most likely in Berkshire, Hampshire and potentially Kent and East Anglia.
