B&M to buy 51 Wilko stores

DISCOUNT chain B&M has agreed to buy 51 of rival Wilko's 400 stores for £13million, but the fate of the retailer's other shops remains uncertain.

It comes as administrators PwC announced a further 1,332 job cuts yesterday on top of the 269 confirmed last week.

The GMB union, which represents more than 3,000 Wilko workers, said it had been informed that 1,016 jobs would be axed across 52 stores, 24 closing next Tuesday. The remaining 28 will close two days later.
