Badenoch: Tories are not party of pensioners

TORY leader Kemi Badenoch yesterday insisted hers is “not the pensioners’ party” as she launched a new pro-business blitz to reclaim the Conservatives’ economic reputation.

Speaking at the British Chambers of Commerce conference, Ms Badenoch contrasted the Conservatives to Labour and Reform, whom she accused of wanting to hike taxes and keep people hooked on welfare.

The leader said only the Conservatives recognise that the welfare state needs radical reform following the pandemic.

And she accused Labour of forgetting the “fundamental truth” that every pound spent by Government on “takers” comes from “makers”.
