After yet another knighthood snub, the former England captain is deemed to have publicly 'signposted' his worthiness for the elusive honour this week by revealing how he has 'always been there' for the Prince of Wales

AT YOUR BECKS AND CALL

WHEN David Beckham took to the stage at Davos this week and extolled the virtues of the Royal Family, it was perhaps his most gushing monarchist display ever.

"Our King is an incredible man. He has not just been incredible for the last five, 10 years, he's been an incredible man for decades," he enthused.

Beckham was speaking to an interviewer at the World Economic Forum, the annual gathering of global leaders, in his capacity as UNICEF's Goodwill Ambassador.

But it was his reaction to being named as an ambassador of the King's Foundation at the end of last year that piqued the interest of royal watchers. That's because the ex-England captain, 49, who hails from a working-class family in east London, launched into a passionate demonstration of his royalist roots by revealing his mum Sandra had "burst into tears" when she heard the news.

"She knows my grandparents would have been proud that I have played such an important role in the Royal Family and the charities that they have," he said.

Going on to describe himself as a "huge royalist", Beckham added: "I always get emotional talking about anything that I do with our Royal Family. I was brought up in a household that adored and loved everything that came with the Royal Family."

imageBecks also revealed how he was on hand to help Prince William with his charity causes at any moment - including last October when he supported William at the culmination of a £16million London Air Ambulance appeal for two new city helicopters.

"Whenever the Prince of Wales sends me a message and says 'I need you to do this' or 'be there', it's always a 'yes'," gushed Beckham.
