Sightings of yellow-legged bee killer spread to the North

AN urgent alert has been issued to the whole of the UK after the Asian hornet was spotted in northern England.

It comes after the worst year on record for sightings of the bee killer, with more nests spotted than in all previous years put together.

The yellow-legged bug and its nests are usually discovered in the South in counties such as Kent and East Sussex.

But sightings have now been reported as far north as Runcorn, Cheshire.
