Johnny Vegas tells of ADHD struggle

TV comic Johnny Vegas has revealed art saved his life after stepping out of the spotlight with crippling mental health struggles.

The 54-year-old star signed off sick, halted all projects — and got an ADHD diagnosis a year ago.

Now he has returned to complete a striking public art installation in his hometown of St Helens, Merseyside, and has opened up about his plight.

In a Channel 4 documentary, Johnny says: "I went into meltdown, I couldn't function. It seemed insurmountable. This has been the most difficult part of my life. But the art saved me."

The dad of two said: "With ADHD, when everyone else is going to bed, my brain goes, 'It's just you and me now!'
