A Highgrove sketch by Charles proves a big draw with artists

KING Charles's sketch of Highgrove House was one of the star attractions when he and Queen Camilla celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Royal Drawing School.

The royal couple were joined by artists including Dame Tracey Emin and Grayson Perry as they viewed the school’s free exhibition, The Power of Drawing, at St James's Palace last night.

The school was founded by Charles, 76, when he was the Prince of Wales. A passionate artist, he has often been seen sketching or painting in quiet moments.

Engaging

Seventy of his watercolour paintings were displayed at The Garrison Chapel in London in 2022.

Last night the King and Queen were also joined by Camilla’s art dealer daughter Laura Lopes, 47, and the King’s artist cousin Lady Sarah Chatto, 61.

The drawing of Charles's Gloucestershire home, which shows the Thyme Walk in 2000, was displayed alongside designs by big names such as Tim Burton, Dame Tracey and David Hockney.
