SEAN DYCHE briefly stepped on to the pitch to applaud the fans but there was no lap of honour from the Everton manager.

The time for that will come although this was another step in the right direction.

Everton are almost back to their tally before the club's 10-point deduction following a run of three wins in a row the first time they have done that since March 2021.

Back then, under Carlo Ancelotti, the supporters were dreaming of Europe.

This win was down to goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and substitute Lewis Dobbin - and the hard graft of the whole team.

Dyche, right, seems to have finally found some mettle in a team that former managers said lacked character.
