90-minute, £70 trip to have lifesaving chemo

ELEANOR Johnson had to travel 90 minutes for chemotherapy at a specialist hospital after she was diagnosed with cancer aged 17.

She spent 18 months visiting doctors with symptoms including chest pain and declining iron levels before scans confirmed it was Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Eleanor, now 19, from Southend-on-Sea, added: "It's like being on a hamster wheel. I went straight into chemotherapy, in hospital, and it's very sudden. It was overwhelming."
