SPRING HAS ARRIVED, BRINGING WITH IT THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO EMBRACE THE ACTIVE ROUTE TO AND FROM SCHOOL. THIS MEANS MAKING THE SCHOOL JOURNEY, OR PART OF THE SCHOOL JOURNEY, BY FOOT, WHEELCHAIR, BICYCLE OR SCOOTER.

LEAVING the car at home and travelling actively to school, or parking away from the school gates and walking the last 5-10 minutes, benefits your child's physical and mental wellbeing. Active travel on the school run could allow your child to meet up to a half of their recommended daily physical activity needs. Not only that, they will also arrive at school refreshed and ready to learn.
We already know that 34% of secondary school children in Wales walk to school, and research by Sustrans shows that most kids think taking the active route to school would be fun.
Here are eight great reasons to consider active school travel for the school run:
• Getting an active start: active travel is an excellent form of physical activity, promoting physical health and development.
