TRINITY Mid-Whitgiftian Cricket Club's first team struggled with the bat as they lost by two wickets to Wimbledon seconds on Saturday in the Surrey Championship Division Three East.

Mids welcomed table toppers Wimbledon on another warm and sunny Saturday at Lime Meadow, looking to backup last week's comprehensive win against Malden Wanderers.

Skipper Sam Williams won the toss and put Mids into bat, but things didn't quite go to plan as they slipped to 26-3, with Richard Piggin playing on, Sadeesh Jayawardena edging to slip and the captain running himself out.

However Abi Sabesan (82) and Jamie Collins (15) played calmly to steady the ship, before Mids lost another two wickets in a matter of a few balls.

Sabesan continued to look in fine form however and Kunal Patel (33) provided great support, not bothering with hitting fours as he launched three sixes.
