COVENTRY jobless figures rise as more claimants are seeking help.
It has been revealed that, as March 2025, the city saw an increase in all age groups, on the Claimant Count when compared to the previous year.
The 50 plus age group saw the biggest number of new claimants - rising by 535 people - a rise of 23 per cent. For the 18 to 24-year-old, the numbers rose by 190, which is an 8 per cent increase.
The overall claimant count rise in the city was 12 per cent, with a grand total of 14,015 people claiming help. The government says it plans to 'get Britain working again' as part of its 'Plan for Change' and this includes overhauling Jobcentres.
