A MIDLAND river has been moved to make way for the new high speed rail line.

Major works east of Birmingham for the HS2 line have now been completed - and the scheme saw 749 metres of the River Cole, close to Coleshill, redirected.

Construction of the Midland spur at the Delta Junction required a stretch of the waterway to be permanently 'relocated' to accommodate two fresh viaducts and multiple railway embankments, according to HS2 officials.
