Digital messages not the same as cards

MODERN methods of sending Christmas greetings include digital options like e-cards, personalised emails and social media posts, texts etc, or even video messages.

Aren't these methods of wishing someone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year preferable to the traditional method of sending a Christmas card - faster and more cost-effective?

I don't think so, because they are, in my opinion, so impersonal, souless and clinical, sanitised and devoid of intimacy by modern technology.

To receive a personal physical Christmas card, delivered by a postman and bearing the stamp of the reigning monarch more effectively captures the spirit of Christmas. Picture postcards were a very popular method of sending Xmas and New Year messages.
