Council outlines areas of priority it wants to invest in

COVENTRY City Council has outlined seven areas of priority to invest in in 2026.
For the first time in 15 years the council believes it will be able to balance the books for the upcoming financial year.
And with no cuts to services proposed, there is even the potential for investment for the second year in a row.
The council says that the financial outlook has changed massively thanks to the government's Fair Funding Reform.
A spokesman said: “The reform, which redistributes local government funding on a needs basis, is expected to benefit Coventry - a growing city that has been disadvantaged under the previous system. The Council currently receives £46 per person less than the national average in Core Spending Power, equating to around £17 million.”
The areas the council is looking to invest in are:
