In an effort to educate and empower people about their rights officials from the office of the Public Protector held a public session with residents from Makhaza, Khayelitsha on Thursday 29 January.

A handful of residents converged at Desmond Tutu Hall to interact with the officials.
Mzwabantu Manisi, an outreach officer from the office, described the gathering as part of their campaign to link up with residents. He said the objective was to give the public a platform to raise their concerns, educate and empower people about their rights.
