MoS Dr Jitendra unveils Innovative Animal Health Technologies developed by BRIC-NIAB

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh unveiled breakthrough Innovative Animal Health Technologies developed by the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad, a premier institute under the Department of Biotechnology's Biotechnology Research Innovation Council (BRIC), here today.

With a strong emphasis on translational research, the Hyderabad-based institute works closely with industry and farmers to develop indigenous technologies, vaccines, diagnostics, and therapeutics that enhance livestock productivity, strengthen food security, and contribute to India's growing bioeconomy.

Praising the NIAB research team, he said these field-ready and affordable innovations will play a crucial role in improving animal health, increasing livestock productivity, and securing farmers’ livelihoods.

He emphasised that such advances also strengthen India's ability to combat zoonotic diseases — illnesses that spread from animals to humans and account for nearly two-thirds of new and emerging diseases globally, including COVID-19.
