"If I'm removed from the Mulugu DCC post, what is my future in politics?" questions Ashok TG. PCC and AICC. The selection of District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents across India has taken center stage following last month's All India Congress Committee (AICC) meetings held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. With appointments to DCC positions in 780 Assembly constituencies regarded as highly prestigious, the Congress high command is treading carefully to strengthen the party from the grassroots.

In Telangana’s Mulugu district, Paidakula Ashok Patel, who has served as DCC President for the past four years, finds himself in the midst of internal conflict amid growing speculation that the party is planning to replace him. Ashok, who contested and lost the 2018 local body elections for the ZPTC seat from Govindaraopet mandal by a narrow margin, was later appointed as the Mulugu DCC chief. Since then, he has worked extensively to organize the party from village-level committees to the district executive. Despite the TRS (now BRS) being in power during that period, Ashok is credited with keeping the Congress flag flying in the region.
