Complaints of poor quality food, SRly inspects Ernakulam base kitchen, imposes fine

The Southern Railway on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on Ernakulam Base kitchen following complaints of old and poor quality food and recommended stringent action against the firm by the IRCTC.

In a statement here clarifying on the complaints, the railways said media reports alleged about the supply of old/expired food by a base kitchen being run by Catering Contractor of IRCTC and Railways near Ernakulam station.
