Liverpool eye stunning Isak move as market heats up

LIVERPOOL are considering a sensational £120 million (about R2.82 billion) move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, despite the Magpies’ strong desire to retain the Swedish international, according to reports yesterday.

While the Premier League champions are yet to make a formal approach, Isak is believed to be high on manager Arne Slot’s priority list as the Reds look to strengthen their attack following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota earlier this summer.
Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for £63m in 2022 and has since emerged as a key figure under Eddie Howe. He scored 23 Premier League goals last season, helping Newcastle qualify for the Uefa Champions League for the second time in three years.
He also netted in the Magpies’ League Cup final victory over Liverpool at Wembley.
The 25-year-old, currently in preseason, has three years remaining on his contract. However, the club are eager to secure his long-term future with a new deal.
Reports suggest Newcastle have placed a valuation of around £150 million on Isak in a bid to deter potential suitors, with Arsenal also said to be monitoring the situation.
