SECURITY CONCERNS

- KIM SWARTZ kim.swartz@inl.co.za

WHILE four awaiting trial prisoners are on the run for nearly four days after escaping from Wynberg Magisrates' Court's holding cells, Anroux Marais, MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety has called for a full investigation into how security was breached.

The escapees are Linda Soyeza, Mphumeleli Lufutha, Ismail George and Tawfeeq Damo and police have since released their photographs in a bid to locate them.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg said initially six had escaped but that two were rearrested.

"Wynberg police are seeking the assistance of the public to help with the investigation into the escape of detainees from court October 20," said Twigg.
