|Cape Argus
THE Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, has appointed Lebogang Paul Mogashoa as the new Pension Funds Adjudicator for the Office of the Pension Funds Adjudicator (OPFA), in accordance with section 30C(1) read with section 30C(3) of the Pension Funds Act, 1956.
According to the Treasury, this appointment is effective from December 8, 2025 and will run for a term of three years.
The OPFA, a Schedule 3A public entity under the Public Finance Management Act of 1999, serves as a statutory ombud scheme established in terms of section 30B of the Pension Funds Act. Its core function is to investigate and resolve disputes between pension fund members and their respective funds, thereby safeguarding the rights and interests of the public, the Treasury says.
The OPFA also adjudicates complaints referred to it under section 211 of the Financial Sector Regulation Act of 2017, reinforcing transparency and fairness within the retirement funds sector.
