A KENSINGTON man accused of murdering 14-year-old Alnika Mitchell on Saturday, has made his first appearance in court.
The 14-year-old schoolgirl was gunned down in front of her house on Saturday in Lugmag Street, Factreton.
Alnika and two of her friends were watching learners celebrate their matric farewells when she was hit by a stray bullet and ran inside her yard where she collapsed and died.
Milosh Basson, 35, was arrested on Monday in an informal settlement in Royal Road, Maitland and is now facing six charges - a murder charge, four attempted murder charges, and one for the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Basson, who appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates' Court, will remain in custody as the matter has been postponed to December 18 for him to appoint a private attorney.
