Aphrodite dancers shine at competition

THIS year, 11 dancers from Aphrodite Bellydance Studio competed at the Western Cape Colours competition, earning the coveted Western Cape Colours, marking a major achievement for both the dancers and the studio.

The competition, hosted by the South African Dance Foundation (SADF) at Portia Primary School in Lansdowne, featured over 200 competitors from across the province.

All Aphrodite dancers who competed successfully achieved their colours, reflecting their dedication, discipline, and hard work throughout months of preparation.

Established in 2007, Aphrodite Bellydance Studio has grown to become one of the largest bellydance school in the Western Cape.

Studio founder Stephanie Singh was first captivated by the art of bellydance after attending classes in Muizenberg.

"What intrigued me most was the concept of isolation, how dancers could move the hips while keeping the rest of the body still," explained Singh.
