AGU cops seek to overturn bail denial
January 30, 2026
|Cape Argus
TENSIONS ran high outside the Athlone Magistrate's Court yesterday as supporters of the 11 Anti-Gang Unit cops on trial for the murder of Wade Price and supporters of the slain alleged gangster clashed.
The officers returned to the stand, facing a string of serious charges after alleged Clever Kidz gangster Price was “unlawfully and intentionally killed” last month, according to court documents.
Outside the court, two groups gathered behind crime scene tape, one backing the accused officers and the other supporting Price. They were kept apart by a heavy security presence.
They traded chants in a shouting match, with one group shouting “Justice for AGU”, and the other replied “Justice for Wade”.
Inside the courtroom, the 11 were seen sporting personalised T-shirts with "#AGU11” printed on the back.
