THE INTERMEDIATE MARKET RENT SCHEME HELPS THOSE WHO MAY STRUGGLE TO AFFORD PRIVATE RENT BUT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR SOCIAL HOUSING

A 2025 report into local housing by Cambridge City Council found that the average monthly rents in the city have increased by 8% in the last year, and by almost 30% over the past five years, highlighting the shortage of affordable rental options in the area.

L&Q's Intermediate Market Rent (IMR) homes in Trumpington, Cambridge, provide eligible local customers with an opportunity to rent in the city at rates below typical private rents.

Located in one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, L&Q's twoand three-bedroom homes combine modern interiors with practical layouts at up to 80% of comparable local market rents (subject to eligibility and availability).

What is Intermediate Market Rent?

Intermediate Market Rent is a government-supported scheme designed to help middle-income earners access high-quality rental homes at rates lower than the open market.

Offered by housing providers such as L&Q, this scheme allows eligible customers to rent properties at up to 80% of local market rent.
