The question becomes very practical: if your company doesn't allow you to work from home, how can you still save on gas and transportation? And if you're already working from home, how do you protect yourself from the ripple effects in the form of higher bills and delivery fees?For those still required to go to the office, the first line of defense is to treat the commute like a budget category, not an inevitability. Staggering your commute can shave fuel use and even fare costs. Carpooling with colleagues or neighbors, even on a rotating basis, can turn a solo fuel expense into a shared one. If you drive, keeping your tires properly inflated, avoiding unnecessary weight in the trunk, and driving more smoothly can all add up.
