|Business Mirror
THE ongoing conflict in the Middle East has forced around 2,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and their dependents to flee the region, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
In a press conference, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne M. Caunan said the latest figure includes the 75 additional Filipinos, who arrived in the country from six commercial flights.
OWWA is an attached agency of DMW.
“We are closing the week or starting next week at around 2,000 government sponsored repatriations,” Caunan said.
The latest figure includes the 50 Filipinos, who were repatriated by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) from Iran.
