MEMORABILIA AND PERSONAL TREASURES OF ARTHUR ASKEY GOING UNDER HAMMER
THE lifetime collection of a British comedy legend is set to go under the hammer at a South Derbyshire auction house.
Arthur Askey's showbiz memorabilia and personal treasures will be up for sale at Hansons Auctioneers' Etwall saleroom on November 13.
The 220-lot collection is made up of the comedian's well-annotated scripts, clothes and personal effects, as well as photographs and letters from a career spanning more than 60 years.
The collection has been consigned by Askey's three grandchildren - Jane, William and Andy Stewart - who remember the comedian simply as the "best grandfather".
