Rugby Genge gets the nod to make his Lions Test debut in Brisbane

BRISTOL Bears loosehead prop Ellis Genge will start for the British and Irish Lions in their first Test against the Wallabies in Brisbane.
Genge, 30, is on his first Lions tour but has been one of the standout performers during the games against Argentina and the Super Rugby Pacific sides with his abilities as a ball carrier really being utilised. The powerhouse front-rower, who is just the 12th Bristol player to feature for the Lions, has done enough to convince Lions head coach Andy Farrell he is the man to help deliver the powerful game-plan he has concocted.
Farrell's 23-man squad includes 10 players from the Gallagher Premiership, with Saracens' Maro Itoje skippering the side. Bath fly-half Finn Russell will pull the strings in the backline, which includes Northampton Saints wing Tommy Freeman.
Elsewhere in the pack, Sale Sharks flanker Tom Curry gets the nod in the highly competitive battle for the number seven jersey.
