Premier Comb'n Barcelona see off Sports to make it five wins in a row
October 02, 2025
|Bristol Post
BRISTOL Barcelona’s impressive early momentum at the Bristol Premier Combination’s Premier Division summit continued unabated on to the Uhlsport League Cup stage.
As though winning the Division One title last season and gaining promotion in their maiden voyage at the higher level wasn’t enough, the Oaklands Park outfit’s meteoric rise has carried on into the early acts of this campaign, as a maximum five league and cup wins amply demonstrates.
Longwell Green Sports Reserves, a long-established Combination club, found that out to their cost as, despite leading 1-0 at halftime through Harry Peat’s goal, they exited the competition at the first round juncture via a 3-1 scoreline, courtesy of Scholastic Mpofu and Jose Oliveira efforts along with an own goal to compound the visitors’ 3G surface frustrations.
While Bristol Barcelona turn attentions back to their flourishing league campaign, and the visit by Shirehampton Reserves on Saturday (3.30pm), Thornbury Town Reserves can host Iron Acton, also in Premier Division action (2pm), in good heart after safely despatching of Division One hopefuls Oldland Abbotonians Reserves 4-2, thanks to James Cooke’s pair and Harrison Young and Sam Hussey strikes.
