NATALIE BANYARD caught up with Lil Wenker, who is heading to Bristol with her hysterical and loving homage to Spaghetti Westerns, Bangtail

- NATALIE BANYARD

'My comedy is rowdy and cheeky'

Guns at the ready as Lil Wenker rides into town with Bangtail - an epic tale of a man in search of his manhood. Saddle up for an hour of unbridled cowboy clown chaos as our hero journeys from the Wild West to the American office.

Baddest. Cowboy. Texas. These are just a few words to describe the Baddest Cowboy in Texas! He roots 'n' toots 'n' roots from the mightiest mountains to the sauciest saloons, trying to live up to his manful reputation. Along the way, he faces absurd challenges in the form of deserts, drunk women and a cattle-feed accounting firm in Minnesota.

But what happens when a Badder, Cowboy-er, Texas-er (AKA his nemesis) varmint tries to steal his title?

Performed by Lil Wenker, a clown from Minnesota and the co-founder of award-nominated American comedy production company Chekhov's Gum, and co-created by London-based director Cecily Nash, Bangtail is a hilarious and whip-smart solo show that combines physical comedy, audience interaction and a surprisingly deep exploration of identity and purpose.

After touring the US, Australia and selling out its Edinburgh Fringe run in 2024, Bangtail is ready to ride at The Wardrobe Theatre for one night only on Thursday, June 5...

NB: Please tell me a little about yourself and how your passion for performing became a career?
