September 29, 2025
|Bristol Post
CLEVEDON Town's amazing 11-match winning start to the Jewson League Premier Division season came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at Newquay on Saturday.
The Seasiders fell behind in first-half stoppage-time when Jack Bray-Evans struck for Newquay, and Louis Price made it 2-0 on 54 minutes.
Sam Beresford pulled a goal back on 69 minutes, but Seb Scott squandered the chance to rescue a point for Clevedon when he had an 80th-minute penalty saved by Ethan Elwell.
Paulton Rovers moved up to second - seven points behind Clevedon - with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Wellington, delivered via Joel Smedley's 76th-minute penalty after a foul on Elliot Haffenden.
Oldland Abbotonians gained a useful point from a 1-1 home draw against Helston Athletic, but Brislington were beaten by a 65th-minute goal at Ivybridge Town and Nailsea & Tickenham’s struggles continued with a 6-2 home defeat by Street.
In Division One, Bitton moved level on points with leaders Devizes Town following a 3-1 home win against fellow high-fliers Bristol Telephones.
