PLYMOUTH
Argyle progressed to the quarterfinals of the Vertu Trophy, thanks to a last-ditch winner from Bim Pepple as they beat Bristol Rovers 4-3 at the Memorial Stadium.Caleb Watts scored after only two minutes for the Pilgrims, but Shaq Forde and Fabrizio Cavegn responded to give the Gas the lead at the break. The visitors then completed a quickfire turnaround within four minutes of the second half through Brendan Galloway and Lorent Tolaj before Luke Thomas equalised just after the hour-mark. Then, in the 94th minute, Pepple calmly slotted home to send the visitors into the quarterfinals.
Since the first meeting between the two teams in November in this competition, Tom Cleverley's side have been much improved in the third tier, taking 17 points from 10 league games.
