The acclaimed documentary photographer died on Saturday at his home in Clifton leaving behind a legacy that transformed the way British life is viewed through a lens.

A spokesperson for the Martin Parr Foundation said on Sunday: “It is with great sadness that we announce that Martin Parr died yesterday at home in Bristol. He is survived by his wife Susie, his daughter Ellen, his sister Vivien and his grandson George. The family ask for privacy at this time.”

Parr rose to prominence with his vibrant 1980s collection The Last Resort and established a dedicated space for his foundation - supporting emerging, established and overlooked photographers - at the Paintworks in Arno’s Vale in 2017.
