MAYK, which had been operating since 2011 and also hosted the popular Mayfest, a biennial festival of contemporary theatre and live performance, has shut amid a “grim” overall picture for the UK arts scene, according to its founders. “It is with huge sadness that we announce the closure of MAYK,” co-founders Kate Yedigaroff and Matthew Austin said in a joint statement.
They continued: “It's the last thing we wanted to do, but we are left with no choice. It has become impossible to continue.
