Football Struber praises Vyner after 'good guy' breaks club record

GERHARD Struber has insisted that from the second he became Bristol City boss, he felt Zak Vyner was an “outstanding” player, after the Robins’ “good guy” became the Reds’ record Championship appearance maker in their win over Southampton at Ashton Gate this week.

City came from behind to beat the Saints 3-1 in BS3 on Tuesday evening, with a first-half Anis Mehmeti strike and a second-half Scott Twine brace proving to be enough to cancel out Adam Armstrong’s opener and keep all three points in south Bristol.

Armstrong chipped Will Still's side into the lead after 30 minutes, but just moments later, the Robins were level again, as Mehmeti fired home his fifth of the term from just inside the box. City then pulled ahead before the hour mark when Twine lifted over Alex McCarthy from close range, before the 25-year-old put the result beyond doubt seven minutes later.
