Athletics Le Grice hoping Kenya camp pays off for him in Valencia
December 05, 2025
|Bristol Post
FRESH from a monastic training spell in Kenya, Pete Le Grice will be hoping the running gods smile on him at the Valencia Marathon on Sunday.
The Spanish event has become one of the best in the world and boasts a super-fast course with an elite field and, normally, benign weather conditions.
That is why Le Grice has chosen it for his eighth marathon since he made his debut in 2016 with 2hrs 23mins 16secs in London, and he will be joined by his Bristol & West AC clubmates Kurt Taylor and Jack Millar.
"I had four weeks in Iten, Kenya, and it was an excellent trip," said Le Grice.
"I just ran, recovered, ate and slept. There were no distractions and everything is done for you in the training camp.
"It is a simple life and stress-free away from the daily grind of work, and I feel very lucky I was able to do it."
