'Actions that single out any group risk creating divisions'

BRISTOL Interfaith Group has condemned plans for a so-called “March for Unity’ which urged “Christians, Jews, Sikhs and Hindus” to defend “life, liberty, and human dignity”.

As reported in yesterday's Post, the rally, organised by a group called Bristol Patriots, was condemned as Islamophobic by Bristol East MP Kerry McCarthy, who said she was concerned about rising tensions in the city.

In its own response to news of Bristol Patriots’ rally, a joint statement signed off by the members of Bristol InterFaith Group said: “Bristol is a City of Sanctuary and welcomes all people, regardless of faith, nationality or belief.
