Cops in pursuit, stock thieves flee scene

A CASE of stock theft has been opened at the Mahwelereng police after members of the Modimolle stock theft unit discovered a vehicle loaded with cattle moving around the George Masebe and Bakenburg area on Saturday at approximately 20:30.
According to reports, the suspects were transporting seven cattle and were in the process of offloading these when the police arrived on the scene. One cow is believed to have fallen and died during the incident. Realising that they were being pursued by law enforcement, the suspects abandoned their vehicle and trailer and fled the scene on foot.
