Vic staff set to walk out over unpaid duties above pay grade
September 09, 2025
|Blackpool Gazette
Healthcare assistants employed by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are to strike in a fair pay dispute.
The UNISON union says staff will walk out for 48 hours from Monday, September 22 unless the Trust makes an adequate offer recognising their years working above their pay grade.
UNISON says some of the workers should be paid an extra £2,000-plus each year for duties and tasks above their pay grade.
NHS policy states HCAs on the lower Band 2 pay rate should only be undertaking personal care, including supporting patients with going to the toilet, bathing and feeding.
