Black History Month 2025 begins on Wednesday and will be marked across the UK throughout October.

This year’s theme, “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,’ invites reflection on the struggles and triumphs that have shaped the nation, while also celebrating the creativity and resilience of Black communities today.
The 2025 commemorations carry particular weight, coinciding with several important anniversaries. Chief among them is the 60th anniversary of the first UK Race Relations Act, a landmark piece of legislation that sought to tackle discrimination and laid foundations for future reforms.
