Hungry Thornton Cleveleys earn first win in a tasty derby

Thornton Cleveleys FC secured their first three points of the North West Counties Football League season with a 2-0 derby victory at Squires Gate on Saturday.
Looking to build on their goalless draw on the opening day at Darwen, the Reds made their intentions clear in the first minute as Jordan Beavers saw his low shot saved after a mazy run into the box by Luke Noble.
The visitors were ahead as early as the eighth minute, when Dan Stoney did well on the left and crossed for Jackson Bateman to head home on debut.
