DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR A FIRST TIME DAD OF TWINS

- RICHARD IRVINE

The unique nature of being a parent means you're never quite sure when things are great, terrible or the best they're ever going to be.

For example, when they're very young, you leave the house laden with bags, buggies, food, spare clothes and nappies, and by the time you're in the car, have lost any enthusiasm for a day out.

All this effort is offset by the two cute children you're ferrying to various locations, but you're never sure if these moments are the peak of parenting.

Or, as the hard work behind the scenes lessens, they're not as much fun, and you can't admire their ability to sit on a swing without falling off.

And this is a slightly selfish point of view, but if you're devoting your weekend and money to your children, you want to enjoy the day out yourself.
